DAY 70

Day 70    November 27, 2013

Well time seems to be flying by. I can't believe its been 70 day since I started this journey. I had said that I was going to do 30 days and hoped I would be able to go 60. Truth be told 60 was easy. Once I got through the first I would say 10 days, it became habit. Did I miss and crave food, sure I did. But my desire to get healthy sort of overpowered those cravings. And the better I felt and the more people that told me how much better I looked everyday, made it easier everyday.

So I am still juicing everyday and starting on day 61 I started to incorporate some food into the juicing. Lets just say it was a disaster!!! I dropped my daughter off at work at the Pizza Factory and she had been telling me about the new Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing they have. I asked her if it was oil free and she said it was. So with my small salad gown I piled it with Lettuce, Green Peppers, Mushrooms, Carrots, Tomatoes,  Cucumbers, Beets, and Sunflower Seeds. Now if you read my blog up until now you would know that I have never eaten a salad full of vegetables. Well is was amazing, even with the dressing I was able to taste everything. I was full in no time and felt completely satisfied.........but guess what? It was not oil free dressing! I should have known by the consistency that it was filled with olive oil. Let this be a warning to any one doing an extended juice fast. Avoid all oils and salt when you start eating again. And obviously avoid any fried or greasy food.

Ok, so that was a lesson learned. The next day I still juiced for breakfast and lunch. For dinner I made black beans and rice along with some juice. I only had a very small portion and was full. I had no problems with this and it was yummy!

The rest of the week was pretty much the same. Juice for breakfast and lunch and something light and vegan for dinner with juice. Solid fruits and veggies, salads, more beans and rice, pasta with marinara sauce. I felt amazing and actually was still losing weight. My weight loss had slowed down some, which was expected.

Saturday I had something really good and also something really bad! For breakfast I added my green juice to a banana, blueberries, and chia seeds to make a smoothy. It was so amazing that I can even explain it! 2 of my daughters even liked it! Of course I didn't tell them about the green juice, only the banana and blueberries. Now the bad, Saturday night I went out to see my friends band play again. This time I had a couple drinks. Not that is very healthy but I had vodka with cranberry juice (So its still juice right?) but thats not the bad part. After the show about 2:30am a few of us decided to head over to the Pizza Factory and make some food. (My friends Brian and Kim are the owners and their daughter Kailey's band House of Alice is who we went to see) Now I could of had a salad of something healthy but we decided to make a Buffalo Chicken Pizza and a Pastrami Sandwich Pizza! I had no intention of eating any but when they came out of the oven they just smelled so good! I thought maybe I will just try a little of each. Well that turned into 3 slices of pizza! I new I would regret it but I didn't know how much. By the time I got home an hour or so later I was already having severe stomach pain. And without going into detail I spent Sunday and most of Monday running to the bathroom. By Monday night I still didn't feel good at all. I was dehydrated no mater how much water I would drink and felt weak and sick.

Woke up today (Tuesday) feeling much better. By the afternoon I felt full of energy and back to normal! I will not be doing that again!

Until next time.......

Oh I've had a few people ask me about before and after photos. I haven't taken any after yet but I will try and post some before photos.  Happy Juicing :)

  1. Hey Jeff!

It is nice to read about your journey and of course your progress. It is absolutely outstanding!!! Kudos to you! Keep going!
I started my juicing first in September. Managed to do 20 days and then had to give up because I had a couple of festivities at home and had to participate.
Anyway, started again on Nov 22, day 6 today :-)
I want to do it for 30 days at least this time. I love juicing and its benefits. For me, after about Day 10, it just became a habit and I got completely tuned off from anything unhealthy.
I have about 60 pounds to lose to be at my target weight of 130.
I wanted to check with you, after you lost all that weight, did it reflect on your face? Did it make you look weak and exhausted. Like most diets do. They make you look sick; dark circles, etc.

It would be nice to hear from you.

Its inspiring to read blogs like yours. You've gone through some tough times. I hope you are okay now. Stay strong.

    xx

  2. Hi Jeff,

Congrats on completing your reboot/fast! You sound so guilty for eating that for, but if you are anything like me, my old self would finished off that whole pizza. You have been a huge inspiration to many, and you sound genuinely happy! Keep the the healthy mindset going. ;) I hope I can achieve what you have.

  3. Hi Jeff!

I would like to ask you:
    1. During your 70day juice fast, did you get constipated? or no digestion, no visits to the 'throne'? :)
I have problems with constipation :( so I was thinking that a juice fast and then a fruit&vegetable diet might solve my problem. I would appreciate if you answered. It's very important. I wouldn't want to aggravate it.

2.Your juices also contain parts of fruit/vegetable pulp? or only the juice?

3.How often did you drink the juices? when you were hungry or every 2-3 hours?

Thank you in advance for your answers and thank you for sharing your experience with us! Great result! Congratulations on your determination! You are a great inspiration for many of us,your readers!

  4. Mario,
    1. No I never had a problem with constipation. I have heard of people having a problem just for a couple days when they started. I would guess that once you juice you should have a problem because all the fiber is removed.
    2. No all the pulp is removed when I juice. Now that I'm no longer fasting I would like to start making broth with it.
3, I sip on my juice all through the day so I really don't get hungry. I'm sure if I had the juice as meals 3 times a day I would get hungry in between.
Thanks for taking the time to read the blog. Good luck and Happy Juicing
