About Me

About me....I guess the most important thing someone should know about me is I'm a single father raising 4 beautiful daughters.
Digging a little deeper, I'm now a 43 year old guy that a few years ago started to see his life going in the wrong direction. As I was approaching 40 my 16 year marriage ended. I was severely overweight approaching 300 lbs at only 5'8" and not setting a very good example for my girls. I started working out and trying fad diets. And even though the workouts were good I was never going to get healthy unless I made a life style change. But it was just much easier to not change.
I talk about this in my blog but a couple events happen in 2013 that finally made me open my eyes to change. One an old friend from high school Aaron passed away suddenly from cancer. Less than 2 weeks later one of my best friends since childhood, Clint died from a massive heart attack. Clint was the best man at my wedding. That was kinda of the wake up call I needed. Although I didn't make any changes, I knew I had to. I really just didn't know where to start.
I started reading books starting with The China Study that was given to me by my cousin Amanda a few month before. I the documentaries, Forks over Knives, and Vegucated. All well and good but I still didn't know where to start. Just saying eat healthy would not do it for me.
Then I watched Fat Sick & Nearly Dead! This was what I was looking for. I knew I would have to do something drastic in order to change my life. I wasn't looking for a diet but a lifestyle change. This blog is my journey of this life change. It's also a way to hold myself  accountable.
